Fireworks

This is unpopular and very old man yells at cloud (literally if you count smoke), but Indiana used to have a personal fireworks ban and boy do i miss it.

Had to go to bed early last night to take my car in early this morning and people were still setting their leftovers off from 10 to about 11:30 last night. Never mind every major holiday now means fireworks at night - New Years, Memorial Day, Labor Day, etc...

Personally I've been done with them on the 4th too for a few years. It's been 50+ years and I've seen enough.

(We used to not flip our clocks here and that was better too.)

Rant approved.

My curmudgeonly old self hates fireworks. In my neck of the woods, the weeks leading up and following the 4th are basically smatters of fireworks every night. And the weekend of is like a GD war zone.

Our dog completely freaks out (and per our neighbors the consensus is that basically all of them do), and I can only imagine what it’s like for veterans w/ PTSD.

Fireworks these days have just gotten bigger and louder to the point I don’t even understand how they are legal for the average person. IF people would relegate them to the few days around the 4th and New Years I would be fine, but apparently that’s not possible for these folks so I’m in the “ban them” camp.

As far as the big shows, I just don't care anymore. I see them sometimes after a ballgame when I'm walking my dog. He doesn't care because he's half deaf anyway. I sat inside and watched the Cardinals on the 4th. I'm sure there were some great displays, but to me they are pretty much all the same.

We had neighbors shooting them in the street. Whatever. Scared the cat pretty good. I just don't want to hear them complain to me about affordability when they just rocketed $500 or more into the night sky.

We were invited to a get together where the draw was they had over $5,000 combined in fireworks in a town where you can shoot them. Big whoop. I stayed home.

I should have noted, I’m totally fine with/ municipalities having their own shows. If you want to see fireworks so bad, go there and stop tormenting neighborhoods.

And agreed Leroy, these people shooting off hundreds (and sometimes thousands) of $$ in fireworks sure as [expletive] better not be complaining about the prices of things, although I’m pretty sure there the same folks.
