They have to be. He's a lot closer to free agency, which will affect the price despite being about the same age as JJ.

“Jon Heyman of The New York Post reports that it’s an eight-year deal worth $112.5MM with no option seasons. Heyman adds that the deal can max out at $132MM, implying there are $19.5MM in performance bonuses.”
This seems like a crazy good deal for the Cardinals. 16.5m is not a lot of money these days.

It does seem like a great deal
And that 16,5 AAV is only if he meets all the bonuses (no idea what they are at this time)

Great deal for a player who will probably be, conservatively, a top 25 player for the next 5-8 years.
