The Rockies and Cardinals have made some pretty big trades over the years.

Some of the most notable:

* February 1, 2021. The St. Louis Cardinals traded Mateo Gil (minors), Tony Locey (minors), Jake Sommers (minors), Austin Gomber and Elehuris Montero to the Colorado Rockies for Nolan Arenado.

* August 6, 2004. The Colorado Rockies traded Larry Walker to the St. Louis Cardinals for players to be named later and Jason Burch (minors). The St. Louis Cardinals sent Luis Martinez (August 11, 2004) and Chris Narveson (August 11, 2004) to the Colorado Rockies to complete the trade.

* November 16, 1999. The Colorado Rockies traded Luther Hackman, Darryl Kile and Dave Veres to the St. Louis Cardinals for Manny Aybar, Brent Butler, Rich Croushore and Jose Jimenez.

Cardinal greats Larry Bigbie and Aaron Miles also came from the Rockies in a deal for Ray King prior to the 2006 WS Championship season.

Reports are that the Cardinals plan to DFA Velasquez and add Pereira to the major league roster before today's game. Nothing official that I have seen as yet.
