Have to wait for polls, but on instinct I'd call McCaskill a 2:1 favorite in #MOSEN now. Had as toss-up tilting GOP before Akin remarks.

That woulds be nice. Nate tends to the left (like me) though he tries to be fair. And always remember this is the country that elected and re-elected George W. Bush. I'll wait to see what the real world says.

Last night McCaskill's people were high fiving each other like crazy and patting themselves on the back for working to get Akin nominated. Bank on it.

I wonder if Romney lying about his Massachusetts residency and his taxes is going to gain any traction this election cycle.

That seems a pretty bold prediction by Silver, given how much of a lead Akin has. We'll see.

Right - the hubris of the left thinking stupid statements from politicians matter.

I lived in Houston when they elected Tom DeLay to my district. An obvious slimeball even at the beginning.

I lived in Idaho when they replaced Larry Larocco with Helen "poster child for the militias" Chenoweth. She's the one made famous for 'endangered salmon bakes' and black helicopters. They elected her 3 times.

There's a wide slice of America between the coasts that eats up these anti-intellectual radicals. And Missouri is right in the middle of it. I expect the Senate race to be very competitive.

Silver's generally pretty hubris-free. He's about the numbers. If he thought it was going to the Republicans he'd call it that way. Plus he said he'd adjust once polls come out.
