Like her or not, you have to acknowledge that mccaskill is pretty sharp.

The thing you have to understand about Silver's estimates are that small changes in the popular vote result in a large change in the odds of winning. For example, Silver projects Obama has a 66% chance of winning Ohio (to Romney's 34% chance, or just about 2:1). But he projects the popular vote to be 50.4% to 48.0% in favor of Obama. So just a 2.4% lead in popular vote make Obama's odds of winning Ohio 2:1.

It really shows how there are so few undecided voters who play a huge role in determining election results. In fact, Brian Williams made a comment on The Daily Show the other day that there are only 12 counties in the entire U.S. that are basically the key swing counties in the entire country for this election. I don't know where he got that figure from. My guess is that it is probably the 3 or 4 key counties in Ohio, Florida, Virginia, with maybe a random Pennsylvania or Wisconsin county thrown in there.

It also shows that it takes an enormous gaffe like this to tilt an election. But even after the gaffe, only like 2% to 3% of the people changed their mind. People's minds are pretty much made up.

I really enjoy it when Republicans are embarassed and humiliated, but this guy doesn't deserve all the poop people are throwing at him. He went skinny dipping. BFD.

She is sharp. No question. And she was very cordial to me even if we discussed some things that were different philosophically. I disagree with just about everything she stands for, but I do respect her.

Probably already discussed somewhere, but does anyone have objections to the Romney/Ryan medicare plan? All I've heard is "their" version of it (and why it's the best thing since white met rice).

Really, is there any downside?

Hank Williams Jr. played to a crowd of nearly 8,500 at the Iowa State Fair Grandstand Friday night. Following the song “We Don’t Apologize For America” a chant of “USA, USA” broke out amongst the crowd. Williams smiled, telling the crowd that he was their mouth piece, adding:

It's unrealistic, relying on those mythical, undefined "discretionary spending cuts" to fund large parts of it. It screws over people who won't qualify for Medicare in the near future so as not to upset the people who already know they're dependent on it. It makes no attempt at improving care and pays doctors based on how well they pad the bill instead of how good they are at their jobs.
