Because we have to maintain the purity of the abortion thread.

Does he mean "forced rape" or "provoked rape" (the latter implying it was the woman's fault)?

Are there more cretins running for office today or is it just more apparent?

What he meant was that if a woman gets pregnant obviously her body was willing and thus the Pregnancy Defense System was not deployed, ergo she is just lying after the fact in order to get an abortion.

The most puzzling and intriguing aspect of Akin's comments is the Pregnancy Defense System, as cpebbles has happily dubbed it. Akin suggests that women have some sort of innate internal mechanism to control whether or not to allow pregnancy. And here, I'd never learned about that in health class, or from my wife. Ladies have so many secrets!

By extension, if a nation allows its political system to be corrupted by greed and archaic beliefs, it must be the will of the People.

"Doctors" told him about the PDS. Surely you aren't going to argue with "doctors."

Once upon a time a wealthy oil man named Clayton Williams was the odds-on favorite to get elected governor of Texas. Until he gave a rather unfortunate one-liner within earshot of a reporter. He said of rape, "If it's inevitable, she may as well relax and enjoy it." Even back in 1990, that didn't go over so well. He lost the election to Ann Richards, the last good Governor the state of Texas has ever had, and may ever have.

Congrats to Todd Akin on joining the elite class of Claytie Williams.

Which is why Claire campaigned for Akin. She knew the idiot she'd get to face if she won. Ugh
